"vi veri veniversum vivus vici"

Good morning! I'm Scarletta Vendetta, based out of Aether on Midgardsormr, where I've lived since 2.0. I am the founder of The Aether Entertainer Magazine and part of the rock cover band Midnyght Morning! I've tried to stay involved in the (FFXIV) publishing scene as much as I can, especially when it comes to charitable causes, entertainment, or Eorzean pop culture. I even did a stint as a columnist and event manager for Eorzean Illustrated Magazine and held a position as executive editor at Lodestone Magazine. Though I am most active in writing and RP, I also enjoy end game raiding and performing as a bard a few times per week.

"By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe"

Although a shy wallflower, Scarletta loves writing, photography, modeling, playing music, meditation, tattooing, and going to entertainment events. She moved away from her Free Company in Limsa Lominsa to Shirogane to be closer to the city in hopes that her newspaper and cafe' would florish. Her other favorite things include fashion, vacationing in exotic places, black coffee, healing magic, herbalism, live music, and her fat cat companion, Jerry.
She has been to many places but holds a special place for The Shroud in her heart.

Scarletta Vendetta: 27, Female, Shirogane

S’carlet was raised in one of the most remote Keeper of the Moon clans within the Shroud. She was born to one of the lead matriarchs of the clan and is a twin. She and her sister, Vee, are the youngest of 6 girls. The method of her birth was a secret her mother meant to keep concealed. The twins were in fact products of a love affair with a Seeker of the Sun traveling merchant from Gyr Abania, a fact that would be looked down upon by the other Keepers. But unlike Vee, who has white hair and a pale complexion, S’carlet had the traits of her Seeker father. One look at her and the truth was obvious. Her sun kissed appearance made her an outcast within her tribe and so she was teased and rejected by most of her peers. This rejection was made worse when she displayed only average ability at archery and a distaste for hunting and killing. She did, however, retain a love of barding and possessed a greater than average ability with music. S’carlet would often find herself writing and singing songs as an outlet. When her and her siblings reached appropriate age, they were sent into the Shroud to train in essential hunting and trapping skills. S’carlet did not excel in either of these areas and instead found herself wandering off deep into the forest to study botany and alchemy. She took a special interest in nature and started taking notes and collecting samples. She became an accomplished alchemist at a young age, thanks to her meticulous research and journaling. Eventually she became known throughout her clan as an expert of The Black Shroud fauna and over the following years she came to understand how herbal remedies could be used to heal the wounds ailments of her tribemates. In her teen years she even started to take a more active role in medicine by learning how to draw blood, suture, and provide wound care. Though she remained awkward to speak to and a social outcast, her skills were appreciated and respected in the clan.As talk of war started to flood Eorzea, the matriarchs in S’carlet’s clan made the decision to engage in peaceful trade with Gridania. At this time it was her mother’s wish for S’carlet to open a herbal remedy shop in the city. The provided salves and tinctures were a much-needed comfort for the people of Gridania and so the stand was wildly popular from the day first it opened. However, S’carlet’s means to provide medicines hinged on her own small garden within the Shroud and with the demand for aid so high she routinely struggled to keep her shop stocked.Despite being out of stock daily, S’carlet refused to go home early for fear of being bullied by her sisters or their friends. She would insist to her mother that it took all day to sell the products so she could spend more time in the city. Instead she would spend her time assisting the other merchants to sell goods or aid the less fortunate people of the Gridanian streets. She spent much of her time educating others on best practices and eventually determined there was a need to pass on her knowledge of the Shroud’s healing properties. She wrote a medical recipe book under the alias Scarletta Vendetta to make the fact that she was a Miqo’te less obvious. She then distributed it to the people of Gridania for free in hopes of aiding war efforts and medical progression. Her book caught on quickly and became popular as a household item to treat common ailments. People began to commonly refer to her as ‘Scarletta.’She formed a strong bond with the city’s people and a compassion for outsiders that her clan did not understand. Eventually the state of the Shroud deteriorated to a point where Scarletta lost contact with her family. Due to this, she ended up settling permanently in Gridania as a refugee. As the war progressed Scarlet spent countless nights providing care for wounded mercenaries. It was from this work as a medic that Scarlet met Midnyght, her first adventuring companion. He was several years younger than her, just a kid at the time. He arrived at her medical tent that evening seeking information about his older brother, one of the pristine Warriors serving Gridania. His brother had sustained a serious injury during battle and was being treated by Scarlet. Supplies for such a wound were in short supply and Scarlet made Midnyght aware that without a specific herb found deep in the Shroud, that his brother would likely not survive. She explained that while the herb is rare, it grew plentiful around the area where she grew up and she had taken great care to cultivate a potent strain in her own garden. There was a chance that the herb still grew there even amidst the turmoil in the Shroud. Though Midnyght was a young teen, he was adamant that he go locate the herb and he insisted that Scarlet accompany him so that she could identify it. Scarlet reluctantly agreed, secretly hoping that she would also discover signs of her old tribe. The pair made their way through the dense brush until they came across the land where Scarletta’s family used to call home. She had hoped that the herb still grew plentiful in her old garden but there was little trace of the powerful clan that once inhabited the area. Most of the land had been overgrown suggesting that the Keepers had abandoned it long before. There wasn’t much to see so the pair decided it best to continue searching for the herb nearby. Just as they were about to give up for the night, the glint of the moonlight caught Scarlet’s eye. Nearby where her mother’s hut once stood she discovered a knapsack with the charm from her mother’s necklace attached as a clasp. Within the sack Scarlet discovered several vials of concoctions and a copy of her own recipe book. Her mother had made additional notes in the margins and among the vials was a poultice that Scarlet suspected would help Midnyght’s brother. They hurried back to the medical tent but unfortunately his brother had already succumbed to his injuries.Later that evening Scarlet found herself tending to Midnyght’s emotional wounds. Rolling her mother’s necklace clasp in her hand she silently listened as he swore vengeance and promised to follow the path of the Warrior as did his brother before him. Then she held him until his tears stopped and they both eventually slept. The following morning the pair were awoken to a bright dazzling light. As Scarlet opened her eyes she was met with an extraordinary purple and yellow Fae hovering over her. The Fae was one of the Fairies of Nym that was locked within her mother’s necklace. The Fae explained that it once served to her mother but that bond had been broken when their village had been raided by a notorious Miqo’te called “The Coeurl King.” Scarlet learned that her mother did not survive the attack and that the Faerie was left behind in the wreckage, bound to an item most sentimental to its previous aspect. In a chance encounter with fate the Fae was now bonded to Scarletta, imbuing her with aether and the healing prowess of the Scholars of Nym.Midnyght was grateful to her so upon his next return to the city he brought her a white leather robe which he had crafted as a gift. Midnyght became a constant for Scarletta, stopping by her herb shop each time he was in town. He’d surprise her with useful items from his adventures, bringing her rare medical supplies or familiar herbs from The Shroud, which was now too dangerous for her to trek alone. She found herself grateful for his company and they developed a friendship that would last this way for several years.

"Eorzea is a rugged place where everything you have can be taken in an instant. It's been six years since I lost him, but I still think about it like it was yesterday. I still replay that moment in my head and see his face in my sleep. Even as I write this, I can hear him laughing and saying my name... Every time I hear that damn song, it rips me into pieces. I know it's probably not healthy. It's the one thing I still haven't felt comfortable talking to my therapist about. Perhaps I am afraid of what she will say, or maybe I am unwilling to admit that I have unresolved grief. She's always saying that we all must learn to cope with loss. Would sharing my story help others realize that they are not alone?"
